Silver as an investment

Silver bullion coins today are usually made of fine silver, i.e. pure silver 999. (Former) circulation coins such as the Austrian silver shillings, on the other hand, have lower silver content, ranging from 640 silver to 925 silver.

Buy silver coins differential taxed

Unlike gold, silver is not exempt from VAT in Austria. Thus, when buying a silver coin in mint condition, the 20% VAT is due. However, it is possible to purchase silver coins also differential taxed and thus save a part of VAT.
