Die American Eagle Silbermünze ist eine US-amerikanische Silbermünze, die wie die American Eagle Goldmünze seit 1986 von der US Mint geprägt wird und die erste reine Silbermünze der USA darstellt. Anlass für ihre Prägung war das Einfuhrverbot des südafrikanischen Krügerrands aufgrund der Apartheitspolitik.
On the obverse of the coin is the classic motif of "Walking Liberty" by Adolph A. Weinman. After 35 years, this famous motif has now been refreshed. Thanks to technological advances in the design and minting process, the Liberty now includes some of Weinman's original details that were not previously possible. The new design on the obverse features an eagle landing and carrying an oak branch.
