To the purchase basket
With the silver coin "Uriel - The Angel of Light" appears on September 5, 2018 the last coin of the four-part angel 10 euro silver coin series of the Austrian Mint. Uriel (Hebrew for "the light of God" or "God is my light") is revered as one of the 4 archangels, especially in Judaism and the ancient Near Eastern, Orthodox and Slavic churches. In the Roman Catholic Church, however, Uriel is not invoked as an archangel. In the scriptures Uriel appears as a mediator between God and the searching, questioning human being. He symbolizes the divine light that guides, teaches and protects us in the darkness. The Uriel coin as a talisman is therefore intended to provide comfort in dark moments and restore energy and vigor to the owner.
On the obverse, the angel Uriel appears as a youth whose head is adorned by a halo. In his hands he holds a stylized sun, "SOL", while his wings are made of sunflower petals. The depiction of Uriel is based on a stained glass painting from the Church of St Mary in Mortehoe, England. The side of the coin shows in its center a richly decorated fire bowl with stylized flames. This attribute of Uriel is framed by the initial "U" for Uriel, which in turn is framed by a rich leaf ornament, which on the coins is in the highest minting quality "Proof" in yellow, the color assigned to Uriel.
