Tunneling in the alpine country

Austria, as an Alpine country, has always held an important role in tunnel construction, so the 2013 ice blue niobium coin was dedicated to this theme. The other side shows in the niobium part one of the numerous Austrian road tunnels, while in the outer ring a worker is drilling in the rock. The words "Tunneling" can also be read in the silver ring.

The colored part depicts a modern drilling machine whose rotations are indicated by three arrows. The outer silver ring shows the surrounding mountain world into which the tunnel is bored.
