Shilling silver coins

Schilling silver coins as Austrian tradition The silver coin Schilling has a long tradition in Austria and was a popular gift for a long time. It has lost its importance as a normal means of payment since the introduction of the euro in 2002. But as a bullion coin or collector coin, he is still popular. A rare vintage and thus particularly interesting for collectors, for example, is the 10-schilling coin from 1964.

Silver coins shilling value

The denomination or nominal value can only be exchanged at the Austrian National Bank. This applies to the silver coins with a nominal value of 25, 50, 100 and 500 Schilling. The other silver coins Schilling can also no longer be exchanged there. 5- and 10-shilling silver coins can no longer be exchanged for euros at the OeNB, as their exchange periods have expired. However, 5 and 10 schilling coins made of copper/nickel can be exchanged for an unlimited period at the OeNB.

Please note that the silver value is usually higher than the nominal value. You should keep this in mind when you plan to exchange your coins for euros.
