The turn of the century from 1885 to 1914, the Belle Epoque, stands for the glitz and glamor of old Europe before the outbreak of the First World War. The refined and elegant lifestyle is also reflected in the rail travel of the time.
The industrial revolution not only brought with it a significant economic boom, but also freedom and mobility for a large number of people. As the number of travelers in Europe increased, so did the need for railroad stations in major cities, and Vienna was no exception. A jewel in Vienna's transportation system was the Nordbahnhof, which was built between 1858 and 1865 and is depicted on the second side of the coin. The other side of the coin shows the steam locomotive "kkStB 310" designed by Karl Gölsdorf, which stands for "kaiserlich-königliche Staatsbahnen".
The coin is sold including a beautiful box and certificate of authenticity.
