The Kookaburra coin is a silver coin minted in Australia and comes from the Perth Mint. The obverse features the Kookaburra - the largest kingfisher in the world. It is widely distributed in Australia. Its trademark is a distinctive voice reminiscent of laughter. In the mythology of the Aborigines there is a legend about it: It says that a god-like being ordered the kookaburra to laugh loudly at sunrise so that people would not miss the sunrise. The name "Kookaburra" comes from the language of the Australian aborigines.
