Series Klimt and his women

Make acquaintance with Judith, with Gustav Klimt's "Judith II" from 1909. More precisely, with the coin adorned with a detail from this painting. Make friends with the little, roundish sister of the dangerous biblical Judith. This coin is valuable because it lovingly and passionately refers to the epoch-making Art Nouveau and the beginning of Modernism, but in particular because - like the other coins in the series - it pays tribute to one of the most exciting artists in history.

Artistic craftsmanship plays a major role in Klimt's work, as it does in the art of minting. There, as there, it is a matter of precision and balanced composition. The side of the coin shows "Nuda Veritas"; a final drawing for the magazine Ver Sacrum (1898) served as a model. In this allegory, "naked truth" is embodied by a woman wearing nothing but her long hair and holding up a mirror to herself: Know thyself!
