Perhaps you too have considered selling unworn or unloved gold jewelry at one time or another. This is often jewelry that you have inherited. You can easily assess for yourself whether you will receive a pretty penny - especially in times of high gold prices!
Gold price in euros - How to determine the value of gold jewelry yourself
First of all, you should look for the gold stamp, the so-called "hallmark". The hallmark can be found on the inside of rings and usually on the clasp of chains. Each country has its own hallmark for each precious metal (gold, platinum, silver). Earrings or ear studs have the hallmark on the ear nut. On watches, the hallmark can also be found on the inside. This hallmark indicates the actual gold content (carat) of your jewelry. The higher this value is, the more gold is in your piece of jewelry and the higher the purchase price you will receive.
For example, the hallmark "585" means that this piece of jewelry consists of 58.8% pure gold (= 14 carats). "750", on the other hand, refers to chains, rings and the like with a gold content of 75 percent or 18 carats.
The weight and the current gold price are decisive factors
In addition to the fineness, the weight is decisive. You can easily determine this with your digital kitchen scales: Use these to weigh your pieces, allowing for a deviation of up to 1 gram. Then check the Gold & Co homepage for the current gold prices per gram.

How is the value of (gold) jewelry calculated? A simple example will help!
Broken gold/old gold: 10 grams
Price/gram - 14 carat: 25 euros

Let's assume your ring or necklace weighs 10 grams and is made of 585 gold, which corresponds to 14 carat. Our website tells you that the gold price for 14 carat gold, for example, is 25 euros per gram. This means that you get 25 euros for 1 gram of 14 carat gold. You can therefore expect a purchase price of around 250, - depending on the current gold price and how accurately your scales work.
Calculation: 10 grams * 25 euros/gram = 250 euros
Incidentally, it makes no difference whether you sell yellow gold or colored gold (white gold, red gold, etc.), as long as both pieces of jewelry have the same number of carats. The difference in color is due to the mixture of the metal (alloy).
How much do you get for jewelry with gemstones?
If your gold jewelry contains gemstones, the type, size and condition of the gemstones are important for the valuation, i.e. whether they are damaged by scratches, for example. You need an expert for this. We at Gold & Co. will appraise your jewelry on request and completely free of charge.
Conclusion & recommendation
"What is my gold worth" is quickly answered: The price of your pieces is calculated according to fineness (stamp / hallmark = carat number), weight and the current gold price. Would you like to sell your jewelry and still keep your investment in gold? Then it is advisable to sell the gold jewelry and exchange it for investment gold, for example gold coins or gold bars. Firstly, jewelry is not a financial investment and secondly, you keep your values in gold.
