To the purchase basket
Since the Krugerrand was minted for the first time in 1967, it has become the world's most widely used investor gold coin with the highest level of recognition. In the German-speaking world, the gold coin is called the "Krugerrand", slightly modified.
Unlike many other well-known bullion gold coins, the fineness of the Krugerrand gold coin is 916.67/1000 gold (22 carat gold). Copper is added as an alloying metal, which results in the intense reddish coloration of the Krugerrand coin. This makes the gold coins scratch-resistant and abrasion-proof, which they had to be in their role as legal tender.
The name of the gold coin is a combination of the depicted former president Paul Kruger and the South African currency, the "Rand". The reverse of the coin is adorned with a springbok on a grassy landscape. The Krugerrand is the official currency in South Africa, even though no denomination is stamped on the gold coin.
In addition to the Krugerrand 1/1 ounce , the coin is also available as a gold coin in 1/2, 1/4and 1/10 ounce denominations, as well as a silverand platinum version in 1/1 ounce.
