Gold coin series "Art treasures of Austria

The gold coin "Heidentor Carnuntum" appeared on November 22, 2000 as part of the gold coin series "Art Treasures of Austria".

Both sides of the gold coin "Heidentor Carnuntum" were designed by Herbert Wähner.

The gold coin shows on the obverse Emperor Constantine II in the ceremonial armor of a Roman general, in his right hand he holds a victory goddess standing on a globe symbolizing the world with a laurel wreath, in his left hand he carries both a spear symbolizing readiness for war and an olive branch symbolizing readiness for peace.
