An ode to the Hohe Tauern

The Hohe Tauern: a treasure to be preserved and discovered in all its diversity: friendly valleys and dark hollows, gentle grassy knolls, moors, small mountain lakes, glistening glaciers, vertical rock faces and narrow ridges, peaks that are never climbed and those that are climbed by many. Such as the famous Grossglockner, 3,798 meters high, one of Austria's landmarks.

The Tauern mountains offer many different habitats that provide a home for a correspondingly large number of creatures: 10,000 animal and 3,500 plant species.
