Buying gold anonymously - what you should bear in mind!
If you would like to invest a larger amount of euros in gold as an investor, please observe the legal restrictions to protect your anonymity. Currently (2021), the anonymity limit for table transactions with precious metals in Austria is 10,000 euros per person per year. For larger amounts, every reputable dealer in Austria is obliged to record your details when you buy gold.
The conversion of money into gold bars or gold coins is therefore limited to an amount of 10,000 euros (once or in several tranches) if you wish to remain anonymous. If the amount of the transaction exceeds this value, precious metal dealers are legally obliged to record their customers' data, keep it for seven years and hand it over on request from the authorities.
How exactly the anonymous buying of gold works
To ensure that your identity is not revealed, we recommend buying in person at one of our two branches in Vienna. Even if various retailers offer sales via the Internet, there is always a residual doubt as to whether all data is actually transmitted completely anonymously - especially if no so-called table transaction or cash transaction is planned and payment is to be made by bank transfer.
A basic rule is: When buying gold, you should have the desired amount ready in cash so that an anonymous purchase of gold coins or gold bars is 100% guaranteed. Of course, you can also sell bars and coins with us at any time in order to obtain new money and invest in other valuable objects or everyday items.
