This silver coin is issued since 1982 by the Banco de Mexico at the mint Casa de Moneda. The special feature: It is the first modern silver bullion coin in the world. In 1991, the Mexican Mint also introduced the smaller denominations of 1/2 ounce, 1/4 ounce, 1/10 ounce and 1/20 ounce. Another special feature of the Silver Libertad is that this silver coin has no minted face value, but it is still legal tender in Mexico. The respective current value results from the material value determined daily on the stock exchange and is calculated according to the fine weight of the national currency.
On the motif side of the silver Mexico Libertad is the coat of arms of Mexico. The side of the coin shows the winged victorious goddess of Mexico as a symbol of Mexico's triumph over Spain in the War of Independence.
This coin is available in various vintages.
