Gold bars consisting of several smaller gold bars (usually 1 gram), which are connected to each other by predetermined breaking points, are called bullion bars.

The advantage of gold slab bars is that they can be divided as desired, individual bars or "gold ribs" can be broken out of the compound bar and the whole bar does not have to be sold. When buying a slab bar, on the other hand, the price is lower than that of the same number of individual small gold bars.
