"French 20 Franc | gold coin" marked for sale.
To the purchase form
French francs were popular circulation coins for a long time. They were introduced in 1360. In 1865, the countries of France, Switzerland, Belgium and Italy joined together in Paris to form the Latin Coinage Union.
Of particular interest here is the fact that the French gold franc reflects the eventful political history of France, with monarchs such as Napoleon I and Napoleon III as well as depictions of republican symbols such as the Standing Angel and Marianne on the motif sides.
The value sides of most issues show the face value surrounded by a laurel wreath or the coat of arms of an emperor or king. The value side of the "Marianne" features a rooster, the national symbol of France.
The coin is available in various vintages.
