Ahead of her time: Tina Blau (1845 to 1916), open-air painter.
The first coin in the "Home of Great Daughters" series is dedicated to her. The first of five gold collector coins presents an artist who aspired to the outdoors and longed for freedom.
The coin images
The obverse shows Tina Blau in a three-quarter view, based on a photograph from her youth. A broad brushstroke is indicated on the right edge of the coin.
The right half of the other side of the coin depicts the landscape painting for which Blau became famous; it shows trees and flowers. The two portraits of women on the left refer to Blau's teaching activities at the art school for women and girls in Vienna, which was founded in 1897. - In front of everything is a section of a picture frame, a paintbrush and the silhouette of a mixed palette.
