The entire universe on one coin

The value side:
The value side of the coin was designed in midnight blue and starry yellow niobium and shows the universe with stars, Saturn and other planets as well as the Rosetta space probe orbiting a comet for the first time. The graduations between the niobium part and the text in the silver border symbolize the orbits of the earth by satellites. The wavelengths of light and the formula S=k lnW are shown graphically on the left-hand side. The formula of the Austrian physicist and philosopher Ludwig Boltzmann (1844 - 1906) is regarded as one of the fundamental relationships of statistical thermodynamics.

The picture side:
The niobium part of the second side shows our solar system with the planets and their orbits, which are located within the asteroid belt. In the upper part of the silver ring, a galaxy, our universe and the multiverse are shown and illustrated with the corresponding terms. On the left-hand side, the "European Extremely Large Telescope E-ELT" is shown with its dome open. The telescope has been under construction in the Chilean Atacama Desert since 2011 and is due to be completed in 2022.
